O Billboard Latin Music Awards aconteceu nessa quarta-feira (21) e surpreendeu bastante gente que acompanhava pelas redes sociais. De uma maneira que não víamos há um tempo considerável, o evento contou com as tradicionais entrevistas no tapete vermelho e uma plateia, bem mais vazia que os eventos passados, claro.
Os artistas ficaram em um espaço separado e os discursos foram, basicamente, sobre o momento delicado que estamos vivendo. Mas isso não impediu que a premiação fosse cheia de momentos felizes e performances únicas.
Daddy Yankee e Luis Fonsi protagonizaram momentos únicos com seus novos singles, mas também ao receberem prêmios pelas conquistas de 2019, como os prêmios por Con Calma e Vida, álbum de Fonsi.
Pablo Alborán, Luis Fonsi, Jesús Navarro (Reik) e Joy (Jesse & Joy) cantaram um medley de canções de Armando Manzeanero, ícone mexicano, com o próprio no piano. Emocionado, o artista cantou Esta Tardi Vi Llover. “Não tenho palavras para expressar o que meu coração está sentindo agora depois de cantar com essa nova geração de artistas tão grandiosa, forte e talentosa em um palco especial como este”, disse Manzanero após sua apresentação.
Maluma abriu oficialmente o evento cantando o hit Hawái, deitado em um piano branco – mas logo foi acompanhado de dançarinas. Depois, o colombiano voltou ao palco para receber o reconhecimento de Espírito de Esperança por toda contribuição aos jovens latinos pela sua fundação.
Ozuna também protagonizou dois grandes momentos na premiação. Primeiro, apresentou o single Despeinada e logo se juntou ao Black Eyed Peas para cantar o hit Mamacita. Depois, mais para o fim da premiação, fez uma performance “intimista” ao cantar Gracias pela primeira vez na televisão, uma das faixas mais honestas do álbum ENOC. O porto-riquenho ainda levou os dois filhos para o palco. “Vamos cuidar das nossas famílias, das mulheres. Há muito feminocídio no mundo e elas são quem nos deram vidas”, disse.
A Banda MS, que ganhou dois prêmiso durante a transmissão do Billboard Latin Music Awards levou o hit Que Maldición para o palco, enquanto Snoop Dogg, que participa da canção, apareceu em desenho no telão – como o videoclipe
Carlos Vives também foi reconhecido por sua importância na música latina. O colombiano recebeu o prêmio especial de “Hall of Fame” e apresentou um medley de sucessos: Cumbiana, La Bicicleta, La Gota Fría e Pa’ Mayte.
Lançada em junho para o Mês do Orgulho LGBTQ+, a dupla Jesse & Joy apresentou Love (Es Nuestro Idioma).
Romeo Santos recebeu o prêmio de álbum latino da década por Fórmula Vol. 2. Em seu discurso de agradecimento, fez questão de destacar como tem orgulho de cantar em espanhol e ser latino. “Quando estou preparando um álbum, meus objetivos são sempre os mesmos”, disse o Rei da Bachata. “Como posso surpreender meus fãs e, ao mesmo tempo, avançar meu gênero? Com Fórmula: Vol. 2, eu também queria me reinventar. Tinha Drake cantando em espanhol. Tive Nicki Minaj neste álbum. Quando eu vejo o sucesso de algumas canções como Despacito, isso me deixa muito orgulhoso. Quando vejo Bad Bunny com Drake e Karol G com Nicki Minaj em “Tusa”, eu sei que não estou sozinho. Nossa cultura e nossa essência não tem igual. É uma honra ser latino. Este álbum foi um esforço da minha equipe e eu quero compartilhar este prêmio com eles. O álbum de maior sucesso é um álbum de bachata e meus fãs fizeram isso acontecer”.
Pablo Alborán apresentou, também pela primeira vez na televisão, o single Si Hubieras Querido, single que promove o próximo álbum do espanhol, Vértigo, que chega em novembro.
